Pedro Carvalho
Basic Facts
I'm an electronics engineer by education and when I finished college I was completely sure I would have a career developing electronics and robotics.
I spend my days coding, reading and playing with my daughter Maria Inês, the most beautiful little girl you can imagine.
I'm a firm believer of a healthy work/life balance and I try to bring that to i2DevLabs. There is no overtime work, no work on weekends and I prefer to hire people that live near our office or that can work from home.
Personal Data
Software quality is not proportional to the amount of people developing it
Permanent Record
One fine day, around 2003, in one of my previous jobs, I was assigned to develop the software for a Windows CE handheld. That was my very first software project.
You know what I found out by doing both hardware and software? That I don't love electronics or software, what I love is getting things to work. You know, that adrenaline rush when the thing you are working on finally comes to live, and it is much easier, faster and cheaper to get that with software than with hardware. From then on, I became a software developer and never went back.
In 2005, I bought a Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone and started playing around with J2ME. That was the spark that led to the foundation of i2Mobile, the original name. Since March 2011, the company name is i2DevLabs, because we do so much more than just mobile.
Nowadays, I'm really interested in thinking and working in all those factors beyond pure technology, that can "make or break" a project, things like project management, user experience (UX), team management, Agile methodologies, design, marketing. Putting it in a simpler way, I'm really interested in everything that combines pure technology with human nature.
Personal Items
I always, always wear sunglasses, because I suffer from vitiligo and have white skin around my eyes
When I was a kid I wanted to be an inventor, so my favorite toys were tools (ask my poor father trying to keep his workbench all neat and tidy). Today I'm pretty handy with them.

Basic Facts
I love programming, the constant challenges, the constant learning of new languages and new platforms, it’s not very easy to get bored.
I also love to play games, at the moment I’m not very active, but I used to participate in Online Tournaments, Lan Parties etc. At the moment I play in my Xbox 360 a new one =), since my old one got tired and broke down =(

After high school I started my graduation in Computer Engineering.
In my last year at the university I entered Microsoft Student Partners program.
When I finish my graduation I joined i2DevLabs.

Basic Facts
If I'm not studying or working, I'm probably playing some game on my PS3.
I'm a Game Developer in training! Problem Solving enthusiast!
My dream is to solve a NP-Complete problem (not happening!).
I'm actually ranked 1st nationally at ProjectEuler.net, which is probably my biggest achievement as far as problem solving goes.
Personal Data
There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Permanent Record
My first interaction with programming was at 11, when I wrote a Hello World in Python.
I did not quite get it at the time though, so I got a Pascal book. Visual Basic 6 followed, and then the big guns: C and C++.
Writing games is what made me become obsessed with problem solving, starting with Collision Detection algorithms. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I did some Web Development and some software cracking (learning purposes only!).
Then I joined i2DevLabs. :)
Personal Items
I have two epic cats, Mia and Pataqui.
Favorite book is Nineteen Eighty-Four, currently re-re-reading it.
